Misfit journey with Naman Sir

                                                          Misfits Journey

The journey of every misfitter started with a random video suggestion on YouTube by Naman Shrivastava, a random individual talking in length about UPSC. Just like a normal aspirant was drawn towards the video with the thought of taking a glimpse. But it was one of the deciding moments of my plan of action for next year. It gave me another reason to quit my job and deeply dive into the preparation. It is widely known that this exam not just prepares you for an exam but for your life.

UPSC preparation at Misfit-A Life processing moment

It is said that "You are the product of five people you are surrounded with" and I as a misfitter was surrounded by 70-80 people who showed the initial trust in that video. Every individual had different stories, experiences and perspectives towards every aspect of life and those aspects were very cunningly channelled into the larger ambit of this preparation by our mentor. At the outset, I was sceptical about the process, but day by day commitment got stronger in this community as we were striving towards one goal.

 The Goal-UPSC and Life

As we proceeded towards this journey there was altogether a new way of learning we were doing in this community, suddenly reading 45 min newspapers reading became a necessity, debating and discussing on topic became a second habit, started questioning things that I never thought much about, but all this came with the habit of modesty, calmness and empathy.

The live lessons on Ethics that we had with Satakshi Ma'am were unparalleled, never thought Lexicon was just a guiding book that had to be used for solving real-life case studies, the video Ma'am bought whether it was from Netflix or youtube at the beginning of class put us all in a zone of maximum input within the hour of the classes and as we discussed it just get into long term memory.

The way we study Vijaynagara Empire through the Tenali Rama cartoon theme song still rings whenever a question on vijaynagar pops up, it rang in this year's prelims exam as well where one question raja krishna deva raya gave permission to Portuguese to build the fort at bhatkal was asked.

Numerous other moments created memory which ultimately led to overall self-upliftment and in that process the overall growth of this community.

Way Ahead

As we are proceeding towards a new phase of the journey of mains, I feel a sense of belongingness towards this beautiful community and commitment towards this group and further strengthening of this community with the best possible capabilities.
